The 75-minute Nordic Trilogy (2021–2023) by Ejnar Kanding has been a streaming success, particularly on Amazon Music. This tonally and melodically grounded music is part of the aesthetic in Kanding’s broad and multifaceted body of work. It is followed by the album Fragile Fortitude, composed for the brilliant Danish musicians Monika Malmquist, Ida Nørholm, and Christine Raft, who form the piano trio, Trio Ismena.
Inspired by Giacometti’s art, especially his masterpiece Woman (Flat II), Fragile Fortitude delves into the complex balance between vulnerability and inner strength, reflecting the intricacies of the human condition. This work was created in collaboration with the National Gallery of Denmark and EarUnit.
Supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, Augustinus Foundation, William Demant Foundation, and Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation.
